You probably would need to do something similar to the Smart Bookmarks
plugin to grab the highlighted text.  The Seahorse extension does
something similar with text fields.  I'm not sure if the appropriate
functions could be called from python though.  Perhaps you can to see
if the common functionality could be added to the Epiphany API?
