[tomboy-list] tomboy project idea

Really like the sound of that. I always thought the iDisk thing (Mac) was a
stroke of genius bound to catch on, and in a limited way I have been doing
what I could to implement that sort of thing with mounted FTP directories
for my personal stuff. Many Gnome applications are willing to deal with an
mounted FTP dir. as if it were a local drive for most purposes- which is a
beautiful thing, but has some significant limitations yet.
It makes a great deal of sense to implement something to which applications
can connect without granularly having to write similar functionality into
specific apps. Much of our data access should be centralized and
ubiquitously accessible and the services for such access require a standard
framework with accompanying software in order for the bulk of society to
benefit from this. What you are talking about would make it easier for more
applications to gain mature benefits by merely complying with an existing,
"well-known" (one day- it is hoped) and mature framework for such services.
I understand there is a project for a 'gnomish' linux handheld distro. I
man I hope that really takes off and that tomboy is a part of it. That
would be sweet.
Man I wish I was a programmer. I get excited about this stuff.
