[tomboy-list] set default language of spell checker (not system settings)

Is there a chance to change the default spell check language.
I played a little with the language variables.

* "LC_Messages" only effects the interface not spell check language.
* "LANG" has effect to both spell and interface

But I really don't want to change the interface to German.
So it is possible to define the spell check language?
I also found it on the wish list. Maybe it's already implemented in the
head. I run the version 1.4.2.
