Hello to everyone,

Actually, this is about two related feature requests that have been
proposed before (not by me). I just hope to be able to catch the
attention of the developers, especially concerning the first request.

Well, my field of work is philosophy, which means that I'm mainly
working with terms, concepts and their relations to one another. As you
can imagine, Tomboy is an awesome tool to handle the collected data, and
it has really proofed itself to be quite a speed-booster. especially the
automatic linking system. For me there is just one flaw (which is quite
huge in my opinion). The main problem i wanted to point out is that i
can't lock down a notebook, preventing it from interlinking with alien
notes (i.e. notes that are not inside that specific notebook). in
philosophy this problem becomes very obvious, because one may have to
deal with concepts which have the same name, but totally different
meanings, different internal structures and references. i also think
such functionality might not only be of use to other scientific fields
(be it the humanities or empirical sciences), but in the common
everyday-notetaking process. one might want to separate the notes (s)he
takes on movies and books from those (s)he takes on things to cook,
work-related notes from spare-time notes and so on.

Of course I know that /the/ advantage of a wiki is the emergence of a
huge general reference system. But in some cases (especially in distinct
fields of work) it might be of great use to be able to generate small
and very specialized reference systems concerning a specific topic.

The other helpful functionality might be the ability to reference whole
notebooks (instead of just single notes); a click on such a
notebook-link should output an index of the included notes.

Thanks for listening.
