Thanks to everyone who has replied. I'll just leave what I've done
alone. I've reinstalled 1.4 from the repositories so that while trying
to figure it all out I can be using Tomboy (I'd rather have the first
release than do without it at all!).
Per Jared's advice I've downloaded the dbus archives but do not know
what to do with them. I've compiled a few things, but it's been a while
and for me it's like learning to walk after having a stroke. And I
appreciate Robert's invite to IRC, but it's been over 10 years since I
used an IRC client, and I've forgotten whatever I knew about that!
All that having been said, I'd sure like the latest release. Are you
guys pretty sure from looking at the output of the autogen.sh command
that if I can get the dbus thing installed it will be smooth sailing for
me? If so, some guidance on what to do with the dbus tarballs would be
very helpful and greatly appreciated (even a reference to some reliable
documentation might be all I need).
Again, thanks to all.
