The subset export (as in a notebook) could easily be made as an add-in with the export all functionality that recently got pushed. Just implement the export function so that it copies over the unaltered note file or something like that. On sunday I think I'll take some time off from bug beating to write a bit about export add-ins on the wiki page for add-ins so that anyone can write an exporter.
