Just implement the export function so that it copies over the unaltered note file or something like that. On sunday I think I'll take some time off from bug beating to write a bit about export add-ins on the wiki page for add-ins so that anyone can write an exporter.
That would be awesome Robert!
Sorry for the delayed response, I wanted to test out some things before
responding but never got around to it. Here goes...
On the import, the original idea was to be simple/automatic. Keep in
mind that the current way of doing the import would be to drop notes in
your note directory and restart tomboy (or with the directory watcher
add-in enabled, no restart required). That sounds much simpler/automatic
than activating an import addin and then having to browse to the new
notes and selecting specific ones to import.
As an alternative for the import add-in, how about we modify tomboy
(possibly as an addin) so that double-clicking a .note file will open it
in tomboy and therefore save it automatically to your tomboy store.
(Didn't have a chance to test what the current behavior is today when
d-clicking an external .note). IMHO this would be the simplest. If a
note was saved unintentionally, it is not so difficult to delete the
note later down the road. A shift-click would allow you to mass import
this way. Thoughts?
