[tomboy-list] ANNOUNCE: New maintainer needed for Tomboy

Hi Tomboy Fans,

I've been maintaining Tomboy with varying success for a little over 5
years, and in that time I've tried to do my best to respond to bugs,
review patches, and put out releases in a timely fashion.

But anybody paying attention to things this cycle will have noticed
that I have not been doing any of those things reliably. I've skipped
several scheduled releases, have ignored repeated pings for patch
review in bugzilla, and haven't landed work on any of the features
(encryption, gnome-shell support) I had planned to work on for this
cycle.

Until now I kept thinking "I'll get to it eventually", but that just
doesn't appear to be true. Other priorities (baby, mostly) have
replaced Tomboy for me. This has been a tough realization for me.

So, Tomboy is in need of a new maintainer. If this new maintainer
wants to stick with the GNOME release cycle, that means putting out
releases according to the schedule, paying attention to freezes, etc.
On top of that, a maintainer needs to keep an eye on bugzilla and work
with contributors to get their features/fixes into git (or explain to
them before they write a patch why their feature doesn't make sense
upstream).

Since we have had some nice fixes early in the 1.5.x unstable series,
and GNOME translation teams have continued doing excellent work
upstream, I plan to release stable Tomboy 1.6.0 tarballs to coincide
with the release of GNOME 3.0 on April 4th. I would love to be able
to work with a new maintainer on this.

I won't be leaving the Tomboy community. I will stay on this list,
try to be active in IRC and bugzilla, and contribute code as I find
time. I will happily answer any questions a new maintainer might have
about how to put out releases, etc. But I can't be counted on as a
maintainer anymore, and you guys deserve better. ;-)

Cheers,
Sandy
