I second that after having played with encfs, Ubuntu One and Tomboy for a while. The procedure for mount, sync, update, sync, unmount all in the correct sequence of each machine quickly became victim of human error, leading to inconsistency and data loss.
My main concern is that true conflict resolution cannot be performed on encrypted content. I conclude that encryption should be done at the application level using standard encryption libraries.
